The last proper suburb, and the distance that comes with it
Borivali is the top of the Western line and the edge of the National Park — a hundred square kilometres of forest with leopards in it, starting a few hundred metres from the station. It is a real suburb with everything in it, and it is also a very long way from the rest of the city. From here to Colaba is an hour and a half; from here to Bandra is forty minutes on a good night.
Everything practical about booking here follows from that distance. One woman on this list gives Borivali as her own area — Ankita, who is twenty-six — and if she is busy, the next nearest are in Kandivali ten minutes down and Malad twenty. Anybody further south is an hour away and will be told so honestly rather than sent with a cheerful estimate.
Which also means: if you are in Borivali and want somebody at short notice, ring earlier than you would in Andheri. An hour's notice here is worth more than it is anywhere else on the line.
